AnoSpend Terms of Use

Last updated 9 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Anola Technologies Inc., a company incorporated in British Columbia (incorporation number BC1611301) (“AnoSpend”, “we”, “us”), based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, for your use of the AnoSpend app. Please read them. You accept them by using the app; if you do not accept them, please do not use it.

AnoSpend is a product of Anola Technologies Inc.

They are written to describe what this app actually does, rather than from a template, so they name the specific features you will meet. Where something is not built yet, they say so instead of reserving rights over it.

AnoSpend is in pre-release development. It is not publicly available. Today the only accounts are those of the development household; accounts for testers invited to the TestFlight beta will follow. These terms are published now so they are in place before that happens, and they will change as the app does.

Who may use AnoSpend

AnoSpend is for adults. To create an account you must be 19 or older, which is the age of majority in British Columbia. When you sign up you confirm this by ticking a box that says “I confirm that I am 19 or older”. We do not ask for proof, so that tick is a promise that it is true. We may close an account that was opened by someone who is not eligible.

Members under 19. Someone who is 13 to 18 may use AnoSpend only as a member of a household, and only if a member of that household who is allowed to invite people invites them and confirms that they are the person's parent or legal guardian. They cannot sign up on their own. Nobody under 13 may use AnoSpend.

When a household member invites someone under 19, that member confirms that they are the person's parent or legal guardian, enters the person's exact date of birth, and agrees to these terms and our Privacy Policy on their behalf. The person joining then confirms that the date of birth is theirs. If the member is not in fact the parent or legal guardian, or the date of birth is wrong, we may close the account. We do not check who is a parent or legal guardian, so that confirmation is a promise that it is true.

A member under 19 can use the shopping list and, if the household allows it, the pantry and starting a shopping trip. They cannot scan receipts, use voice input, or change the budget, they cannot invite or remove people, and they cannot own a household. Nobody in the household can switch those on for them. Only someone who is 19 or older can own a household.

When a member turns 19. From the day after their 19th birthday the account becomes an ordinary adult account. The next time they open the app we ask them to agree to these terms as an adult and to decide for themselves about the features that use Google's Gemini service, because a parent's earlier agreement does not cover that. Nothing is switched on for them automatically: what they can do in the household stays as it was set, until the owner changes it.

You need an email address you actually control. We send a confirmation link to it before your account can be used, because the address is how household invitations reach you, and an address you do not own is an address someone else can be invited through.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself. If you turn on biometric sign-in, your session is held in your device's own secure storage, so anyone who can unlock your phone with their face or fingerprint can open your account. That is a choice you make about your device, not something we can undo from our side.

Tell us promptly if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.

Households, and what sharing actually means

AnoSpend is built for a household to share one shopping list, so most of what you put in it is visible to the people you share it with. This section is the part of these terms worth reading closely.

  • Everyone in a household sees its contents. The shopping list, past trips and what they cost, budgets, pantry items, notes on items, and who bought what.
  • The owner has full access, always. A household has one owner. Members can be given or refused individual permissions (managing the list, starting a shop, inviting others, and so on), but the owner's access is not limited by those settings.
  • Invitations go by email and are limited to 10 per person and 20 per household per day, so an address cannot be invited on a loop.
  • Leaving or being removed ends your access to that household's data. It does not delete the household or what the rest of it has recorded.
  • You may own up to 2 households. Belonging to other people's households is not limited.

Do not put anything in a shared household that you are not willing for the other people in it to read.

Voice and receipt scanning

Two features send what you give them to Google's Gemini service: dictating an item, and scanning a receipt photo. Both are optional, both ask for your agreement before the first time, and the app works without either.

What comes back is a proposal, not a fact. Speech recognition mishears, and reading prices off a photograph gets them wrong: a smudged 8 becomes a 3. Nothing is written to your list or your spending history until you confirm it. Check the numbers before you accept them; if a wrong figure reaches your budget because it was not checked, that is not something we can put right afterwards.

You may scan up to 3 receipts per shopping trip.

Neither feature is available to a member under 19. The app turns them off for that account and our servers refuse the request even if someone tries to use them anyway.

We use a paid Gemini tier specifically because Google does not use data submitted on it to train its models. Our Privacy Policy sets out what is sent, what Google may keep, and for how long.

Budgets are a record, not advice

AnoSpend adds up what you tell it you spent and shows it back to you. It is a household budgeting tool and nothing in it is financial, tax or accounting advice. Figures depend entirely on what has been entered, including anything a scan or a dictation proposed and somebody accepted. Do not rely on it as a record of account for anything that matters. Your bank and your receipts are the authority, not us.

Your content

What you put into AnoSpend stays yours. We do not claim ownership of your lists, your notes, your spending history or your receipt photographs.

You give us permission to store and process that content only so far as it takes to run the app for you and the household you share with: to sync it between devices, show it to the people in your household, and send a photograph or a transcript to Google when you use one of the features above.

You can ask for a copy of your data from Settings about once an hour, and Settings offers an export.

Things you may not do

  • Use someone else's account, or sign up with an email address that is not yours.
  • Invite people to a household without a reasonable belief that they want to be there.
  • Upload photographs that are not receipts, or anything unlawful.
  • Try to break, overload or work around the app's limits, including automating the voice or receipt features, which cost real money on every call.
  • Use AnoSpend to store information it is not built to protect. It is a grocery app, not a medical, legal or financial record system.

Availability

We do not promise that AnoSpend will be available, uninterrupted or error-free. It is pre-release software, it depends on services we do not control, and features can change or be withdrawn. Voice and receipt scanning in particular can be turned off at short notice, because each call costs money at a third party.

Paid plans

There are none today. AnoSpend currently has no subscription, no purchase and no paid tier, and nothing in the app charges you. If that changes, the price and what it covers will be shown before you are asked to pay, and these terms will be updated first. Nothing here reserves a right to start charging for what you already have without telling you.

Ending your account

If you own a household that other people are in, you must make someone else the owner before you can delete your account. That transfer can be refused if the person you choose already owns as many households as the app allows. If that leaves you with nobody to transfer to, write to us at the address below and we will erase your account by hand rather than leave you stuck.

You can delete your account from Settings. Deletion is not immediate: it is scheduled, and for 14 days you can sign in and cancel it. After that it is carried out and cannot be undone.

If you own a household that other people are still in, you will be asked to make someone else the owner first, so that deleting your account does not take their data with it.

We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will say why.

Disclaimers and liability

AnoSpend is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data, lost savings or money spent in reliance on figures shown in the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusions above, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We will update this page and the date at the top when these terms change. If a change materially affects your rights (a new paid tier, a new category of data, a change to who can see what), we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, not only by editing this page.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction, and that is where AnoSpend is operated from.

This does not take away the protections you have at home. Governing law has to name one place, but naming British Columbia does not remove a consumer right that the law where you live gives you and does not allow you to give up, including the right to bring a claim in your own local courts where your law provides for that. Where the two conflict, your own consumer protection wins.
